45th Liminka Music Camp 28 June – 8 July 2011.
Liminka music camp, organised as part of Liminka music weeks, is the oldest and currently
the largest symphony orchestra camp in Finland. Music weeks aims to establish itself as
a cultural event catering to the tastes of all ages.
In honour of the 45th Liminka music camp, the symphony orchestra will play Freischütz Overture
by C. M. von Webern, Concerto for French Horn and Orchestra by R. Strauss, and Symphonic Suite
op. 35 “Sheherazade” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov. The camp hosts six orchestras in all: symphony orchestra,
junior strings, string orchestra, Brass Ensemble, clarinet ensemble Clarinade, and conductor’s orchestra.
Concerts and Sounds! -events are realised by our own teachers and students. The
teachers are once again top-level, both nationally
Although emphasis is traditionally put on daily orchestral work and private lessons, camp curriculum
includes a wide variety of activities. New courses include interactive violin master class, brass
septet course, Colourstrings introductory course for teachers, and musical playschools for both juniors

Older campers are invited to enjoy zumba and the facilities of the nearby sports hall, while youngsters
busy themselves with various sports activities and - weather permitting - outdoor swimming.
